Geometry portfolio


On Tuesday in maths we had to do a geometry portfolio sample.We had to type how many faces,Edges and corners 3D shapes have & we had to type the names of 2D shapes. Lastly we had to type down the coordinates of where the objects are and where you end up by following the coordinates.

Pet day and vaseline saucer

Today we had pet day. This is a day when students bring pets to introduce them to the school. Yesterday we had to make vaseline saucers for Pet Day. The winners go to the Waimate North Show. It was fun. I loved meeting all the pets.

Explanation Writing - Making Pikelets

How to make really delicious pikelets

Have you ever wanted to make a piklet but you can’t? Pikelets are a sweet fluffy treat.

First, you wash your hands so germs won’t get on the pikelets.

Secondly, sift the flour, baking powder and salt into bowl.

Thirdly, in another bowl beat eggs and sugar with a whisk until it’s thick and pale.

Fourthly, add the egg mixture and milk to the bowl of dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

After that gently heat a nonstick frying pan and drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture from the point of the spoon onto the surface.

Finally, when the bubbles start to burst on top of the pikelets turn them over and cook the second side until golden. Place in a clean tea towel or plate to cool down.

Narrative

We have been learning how to write narratives. Here is a narrative I have written about a girl with her plane.



Once not so long ago as the sun was about to set, Sky went outside. Sky was a blonde tall beautiful person, she cared about everything. She went outside to fly her plane with her red trolley. The plane was small and purple. She got her remote out, picked up the plane and it flew up into the sky. It glided smoothly and did loops and twists.

Suddenly the plane lost control and got stuck high up in the old oak tree. She tried to get it out by flying it with the remote control but it didn’t work. So Sky started climbing the old oak tree.

As she got to the top, she reached out to grab the plane but the branch broke.  She slipped and fell all the way to the ground. Her arm was broken. “Help, help I broke my arm!” she shouted in deep, deep pain. Her mum heard her shouting in pain and raced out of the house. She quickly ran to get her daughter.  “What is wrong my darling?” her mum squealed. “I broke my arm and it hurts,” Sky cried.

Her mum raced back home and she rang for help. The ambulance came as quickly as they could. Finally they were there. The ambulance officer put her in the back of the ambulance with her mum so she felt safe. They zoomed to the hospital. They put her arm in a cast to help her hand get better.

When she returned home her mum said, “you are not going outside unless you ask me first,” her mum explained.

Autumn Cameo

Learning Intention: I am learning how to use appropriate and effective similes in my cameo writing.
Success Criteria:
I am able to find and highlight similes in a cameo and explain why they work.
I am able to write appropriate similes for objects in my cameo.

Here is an example:
WINTER
Winter blows its cold breath everywhere.
The early morning frost greets you like being welcomed onto the marae.
The wind howls in the freezing air like a stray dog hungry for a bone.
Snowflakes flutter like leaves falling from autumn trees, covering the ground with a white sparkling blanket.
The trees become bare, brown bones standing like statues admiring the view.
Heavy rain falls from the sky like a thousand hooves pounding against the ground.
Chilly bitterness in the air, winter is here.

Autumn

The trees dance as the wind gently swings them like a ballet.
leaves fall softly on the ground like a butterfly gently going so slow on the ground to land.
leaves are different color like a big rainbow shining above us in different colors.
Leaves are changing color like the children dieing there art work.
Leaves are everywhere like baby's toys everywhere.
Leaves are in the water like boats swimming across the sea.
Rain drops drip on my hand like a glass of water on your tongue.
The leaves crunch like a person crunching the yummy chocolate.
In the morning the flowers have a morning drink like a pouring rain feed

Volcano Erupting

Here is my moment in time about a volcano erupting.

Sssssss! The steam is racing out of the volcano, ready to erupt. Sizzle goes the volcano as the hot red lava becomes hotter and hotter. Drip drop! The rocks are dropping in the hot red lava. Rumble tumble goes the volcano as it’s about to erupt. Shake shake as the volcano shakes the ground like an earthquake. Crash! Bang! The hot burning lava explodes, destroying everything in it’s path. Ash clouds form in the sky. Smoke comes out from the top of the volcano like a house on fire. Flames over there, flames over here, flames, flames everywhere. Kaboom! Rocks are shooting out into the blue white cloudy sky before crashing onto mother nature.

Environment Writing

Here is my environmental writing. We went outside and spent ten minutes using our senses.

Tweet Tweet tweeted the brown bird’s. Whoosh Whoosh the cold wind sped past. The golden yellow shiney sun shone on me. It cooked me like I’m the toast and the sun is the toaster.  Chat chat. The children shouted while working. Moooooo went the cow’s in there giant green meadow. Plop plop as the cows poop came out. Vroom vroom. The cars zoomed past. "Yawn," said the children.

“Ahh!” I shouted as I packed my water bottle in my pink flower bag to climb TeAhu Ahu
mountain. “Vroom vroom!” the car grunted as it was waiting for me. “Let’s go!”I shouted Whoosh we were off. Finally we arrived at school. It was a long drive but we arrived just in time for the bell.  “Ring ring!” I zoomed to hang my bag and I felt the wind in my hair. “


“Ring!” It was time to climb Te AhuAhu mountain. I got my water bottle and my pink flower bag and ran to the bus. When we got to the base of the mountain we all hopped off the bus like kangaroos.


We started to climb the mountain. “This is so tiring and my legs are burning hot and are so hurt full!” I shouted as the sweat poured down my face.  “Finally we’re at the top!” shouted Bailey in happiness.  “I’m so thirsty!” I said as I reached the top. “Are we there yet?”moaned Sara. “Nope, just climb this little bit of the mountain and we’re there,” replied Mrs Clark as she was scrambling in the hot, golden sun. Finally we were all at the top.


“Shhh!” shouted Mrs Craig. The man was waiting. “Good morning everyone, thank you for coming!” the man quietly shouted. He shared his knowledge of the mountain.


“Lunchtime everyone!” Mrs Clark said in excitement. As I sat eating my lunch I saw a little wood beetle. I named it Bobby and looked after it. “Hello little bobby!” Magic shouted as I introduced Bobby to her. “Lunch is over, time to go down the gigantic green bump!” shouted Mrs Craig. At the bottom we waited for the bus to pick u sup. Finally it arrived.  I hopped on the bus like a kangaroo and we were off.

Unboxing day

Finally today is the day. Today is when I get my Chromebook. I went to get changed and zoomed down the steps and had breakfast. After my breakfast I zoomed in the car with my stuff and zoomed off to school. "Ring, ring!”went the bell for our assembly for our lovely chromebooks. When everyone hoped in the room I was very very excited.
"Are you guys and girls ready to open your box for your chromebook!” shouted Mrs Craig. “10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0!” shouted everyone in excitement. Rip Rip Rip! went the boxes as everyone ripped them apart. It was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Thank you god.
