For the past few weeks our focus for math's has been Geometry. We had to choose three geometry tasks to complete. Our dead line was today for finishing the 3 task and putting them on a slide or single show you. I learnt that no matter what shapes you have you can make a animal.

Here are the results of my PAT Maths test. At the beginning of the year I scored 21/41. This week I scored 22/41. I improved by 1 mark. My score means I'm working at average. I improved the most in Statistics.Next year I need to work on number strategist

Yesterday Team Moana wrote an explanation writing on how everyone can cope with environmental problems. I wrote about environment pollution!

Environment is a word relating the earth and nature. But sometimes the environment has some problems, Problem is a word relating to a situation that may involve harmful words and pollution which is what the earth has. One of the problems that the environment has is “environmental pollution ” (Land pollution). Here are 3 ways on how to help with this type pollution My reasons are as followed: Firstly, Recycle. Anything thats can be used again such as: water bottles,boxes,containers etc you should keep. If you recycle it can cause less pollution and all our animals will be plastic free. Secondly, Cleaning up your environment. Everytime you go for a walk or jog you will see some pieces right?. If you see a piece of rubbish and a nearby rubbish bin,pick it up and put it in the bin. Not only does this help the environment but it makes your country look a little bit better. Finally, Try eating food with no rappers / plastic. Most food with rappers are either: chocolate bars, energy bars, chips,cookies etc. This doesn’t only affect our environment but it’s a unhealthy diet. So, instead of eating junk food you can eat healthy food like your fruits and vegetables. This will not increase the earth to a healthy lifestyle but your health will be involved as well. This Friday is Greats and Grands day, We had to write an explanation on an aging problem our grandparents had and how they could fix it.

Understanding an explanation.

Beginning	Title Copy your explanation title here.	How Grandparents Cope with Weak Eyesight.
	1st paragraph Define and describe what you are explaining.	A grandparent is a person who is old enough for their baby to have a baby. When people start to get old different parts of their bodies start to get worn out and they can no longer do what they could do before. This is called aging and it causes many problems. One aging problem that a grandparent may have to deal with is weak eyesight.

Middle	2nd paragraph Write about one thing you can do to cope with weak eyesight.	One thing that a grandparent can do to cope with eyesight loss  is to make sure that they wear clear glasses at all times. This can help you see the world clearly instead of everything being blurry.
	3rd paragraph Write about a second thing you can do to cope with weak eyesight	Another thing to do is get a guide dog.  A guide dog can do so much more than your normal eyes. It is very helpful and will lead you the way to the shops and back.
	4th paragraph Write about a third thing you can do to cope with weak eyesight	One last thing you could do is make sure all devices you have like Phones, Laptops, TV’s etc to good quality and a bigger words so that you can see what people are saying clearly.
End	5th paragraph Wind up your writing.	Weak eyesight can be a difficult aging problem for grandparents to deal with but people are hopeful that improvements in technology will be  a big help for this in the future.

It has been a while but I would like to tell you what Team moana has been up to for the past 3 weeks. Team Moana had to write personal recount (ski trip diary) about everything we did during our school ski trip to National Park in September 2018. It was a blast!

Temperature

A couple weeks back my teacher Miss Dixon assigned  the whole class to do a temperature activity. There were 4 activities in total. To make sure this activity was finished she made a deadline which is today. We also had to to choose a buddy to help us out. Dulcie and I decided to go together. My favourite thing I learned was how to spell thermometer in a fun way.

The holidays

I absolutely LOVED MY HOLIDAYS! For the first week of the holidays I went to Auckland and explored a lot of places like the zoo, cinemas, downtown plus I saw an amazing slingshot or what Auckland called it the "sky scream" it was AMAZING. I could hardly describe how adventurous it was. But now I'm back at school, not so excited but with a fresh mind. But the cool thing is I got to see my friends again.

Commonwealth games reflective report

I kind of liked it but then once our final rotation came my team left because no breaks were aloud since one of our members was absent. School Commonwealth Games!!

Today we had the a Commonwealth games.
What we had to do was team up with 1 - 5 people in year 5 & 6. Then we had to make up an activity for the commonwealth games, my activity was skipping and we called it "Little Kangaroos". Once all that was done we had to plan who was going on break? Who is bringing what? all of that. after all of that jazz we also had to choose a country from the commonwealth games my group obviously picked "Australia", we made a flag, poster, rules poster, certificates we were busy non-stop. Finally came today were we had to set up. My group and I plan didn't go well it was boring, the kids drove us crazy, no one was listening. But it was still fun.

Swimming Term 1 2018

This year we have been practising streamlining our arms and legs. We had Swim Safe to teach us how to survive when a current or a rip is sucking you in. We also have been practising our breathing technique with Swim Safe.

I can swim a length of the pool.
I am good at floating for over 3 minutes when I'm getting sucked out to sea!
I need some work on keeping my hand up when I am trying to signal for help!

P.A.T Maths test term 1

Aloha Bloggers, Last week the class and I did a P.A.T maths test.

My score from this test was 21 out of 41.

I do think I need to work on statistics and Geometry/Measurement more.

I think I'm well good at Number Knowledge and a little bit of Number strategies.

“YES! A DAY OFF SCHOOL” I yelled, Today is Tuesday 6 of february...

Waitangi Day. I was finally free from the chains of reading and the cell of

maths finally opened. I ran downstairs thinking it was a normal day until it

struck, The big wave of flames and heat burst in my face, My face was turned

into a puddle I probably turned into a melted ice cream as I took a step into the

wave of flames and heat I heard my aunty downstairs. “Good morning

Amethyst, I was thinking we could go to the lily pond after you finished

eating it’s a beautiful day outside...The sun looks very bright as always”

Said aunty. In my head I was really annoyed all I wanted was to play

games and sleep all day but nope, “Fine” I moaned…”GREAT! Go get

your togs and a towel and a board if you want oh and your cousin

is coming :D”...”WHAT!!” I shouted as she walked out the door.

Now not only that I have to go to the lily pond with my cousin

and aunty but I DIDN’T EVEN EAT! Ugh, I hope it will be ‘fun’ I guess…

EER! The car parked. My ears already hurt from the parking error…

”Ok, Amethyst stay in the shallow part, I don't care if you swim

down there with Magic” said my aunty, “I got to swim in the deep

end with Magic” I shouted. “Hey! Don’t argue with me young

lady you must stay here and I don’t care if you two swim down

there with magic you two are too young” My aunty is very serious

about safety. Once one of my cousins swam in the deep side and my

aunty screamed and ran around and around...I rolled my eyes diva style

and dived in. After a couple minutes of splashing and fighting

my older sister Reenie came with our other cousin Forest and a few

more friends. She was of course talking about themselves.

I heard some of the conversation it was something about her

boyfriend I think... BLAH! A little kid just puked in the

water, I guess he was swallowing too much water? Everyone evacuated

the pond like no joke a monster just rose from the water. The puke

was taking over the whole pond like if bugs were all over the

place some people would say “THE BUGS HAVE TAKEN OVER!”

or something silly like that...

“Well sorry kids the puke is all over the place I guess

we have to go home now” Aunt was very ‘disappointed’

or she just wanted to go home because it was sunset.

As we drove thru the concrete roads the colours of the

sunset mixed around like when your mixing colour masterpiece.

I took a photo before we just went into my driveway, Well I

guess that was fun but as I was sleeping I was locked up again

and chained in the chains of reading… I sighed in

disappointment. But, in conclusion I guess I had a great day of laughter and splashing...
